Look at Examples
An example of the photo repair process can be as simple as cutting and enhancing the photos. 
Here is a "want-to-be" weatherman in an old water damaged photo. A bit of trimming and sharpening of the image does a wonder to save an otherwise worthless photo.
Photograph manipulations may become more complex. The example to the left is really a photo of three women. One of the three, the center woman, decided she did not like the photo, and had asked to be removed. This becomes a complex project involving many steps. The manipulation is handled in software from Adobe. This is Photoshop. The woman can be made to virtually disappear, and a new scene constructed in her absence.
The photo at the left was generated using a single photograph, rotating it, making line drawings and adding artificial lighting and shadows.
